Go Live?

Topics: Web Api

As I read the license, it's not ok to Go Live with WebApi 0.5.

Any information about in what time frame a go live version could drop ?

You can go-live on Preview 5, but you are basically doing so at your own risk. We are not providing support for Preview 5 (other than answering questions on the discussion forums) so you will need to make sure that you test your system. Also, the API is still churning a fair amount, so you should expect breaking changes in future releases.

Could I go live with Preview 6? Does Go live means that I can use it on production environment?

You can use WCF Web API Preview 6 in a production environment, but the bits are only at preview quality and are provided As Is. We are not officially supporting these bits. You will need to do adequate testing to ensure these bits meet your needs. Also, we are still evolving the framework, so you should expect potentially disruptive changes in future versions. Please plan accordingly.

Oh, thanks a lot for the answer.

Sure, I undestand it, but think it isn't stopping me to use Web API. I see some benefits in it comparing to WCF 4 REST and WCF 3.5 REST Starter Kit.

By the way, have you any plans of releaseing it? Date April 2012 still actuall?

We are targeting some time in Q2 2012 at this point.
